Peppernuts Haul 2023

Quite a haul this year. My son and I made a full, 6-7 cup of flour recipe.

This batch has a delightful molasses taste, and we were heavy on the “optional” spices (nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, ginger), so they also have a slight ginger burn.

I really like this batch.

We used “butter flavor” Crisco shortening instead of the traditional lard. I don’t really taste the “butter flavor”, but I do think they scorched a little easier.
