Futhark

I took this picture on Drake Ave in Fort Collins. I was afraid to try to decipher the runes for fear of finding out there were some god damn neo-nazis in my neighborhood.

I make out the runes as:

hagalaz ansuz isa laguz - H A I L

othila dagaz isa nauthiz - O D I N

That looks like a transliteration of “HAIL ODIN” from English letters to Elder Futhark runes

“HAIL” is definitely English, not Old Norse, where it would have been “HEIL”.

Apparently Norse would have spelled “ODIN” “uruz thorn is nauthis”, and pronounced it more like “oothin”.

Is this a case of white, suburban Asatru or is the Suburban owner just baiting people?
