Dinosaur Image
I believe this is the picture that got me interested in dinosaurs, and from dinosaurs, I became interested in paleontology.
It’s from a book, The Giant Golden Book of Dinosaurs and Other Prehistoric Reptiles, by Jane Werner Watson, illustrated by Rudolph F. Zallinger, Golden Press, New York, Western Publishing Company, Inc., Copyright 1960, Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 60-14884.
The text of the book has the two lambeosaurs “filling their hollow skulls” with air and diving to avoid a Gorgosaurus.
I can remember being fascinated by that image when I was quite young. I read all I could about dinosaurs.
When I was 5, the Sinclair Dinosaurs came through my home town. You cannot imagine how excited I was. I got interviewed by the local AM radio station, KIRX because I was 5, and I was so knowledgeable.
I even got one or two of the waxy, injection molded dinosaur models.
Sinclair seems to have transported the dinosaurs from NYC in 1966. Here’s an image of the Sinclair hadrosaur from Kansas City, MO, in 1966.
