Ancient Fortunes

I found a piece of an old wallet while I was cleaning up my home office. It had some baby pictures of my son, who is now 22. It also had some fortune cookie fortunes.

The pictures in the wallet are at least 20 years old, so the fortunes probably are about the same age. I have no idea which restaurants they’re from.

The slips of paper fall out in the usual categories:

• 1 pseudo-Confucian saying
• 3 pieces of advice
• 1 compliment
• 2 fortunes (reference the future)

That’s actually about right overall. I think 25% of fortune cookie slips have fortunes, a prediction or at least reference the future.
